About Me
- Name: Vivek
- Location: United States
I'm a Ph.D. candidate in the Animal Behavior Graduate Group at the University of California, Davis. My general research interests are mainly at exploring how technology can be used to minimize negative interactions between humans and villagers, thus improving conservation prospects for an endangered species and economic prospects for villagers as well in southern India, which is my study region. For my doctoral dissertation, I am exploring how elephants respond to perceived threats such as recorded tiger growls or villagers shouting and whether this technique of threatening sound playbacks can be used to reliably mitigating elephants from raiding on villagers' farms.
